What is my background?
Neil Welch PhD, ASCC has developed his expertise over the 15 years of his coaching. His PhD, which he completed in 2019, was on the role of strength, power and change of direction in rehabilitation and performance. He has published peer reviewed articles on the factors related to change of direction performance. His academic foundation was built on his masters degree in strength and conditioning and his undergraduate in sports science and physiology.
Neil is a performance consultant working with teams and individual athletes across many sport. He is currently leading the Kildare Senior Gaelic football program implementing the team’s performance in injury prevention strategies. Prior to this, he was head of S&C and biomechanics at the Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin where he worked for 10 years since 2013.
